The shop manual is confusing. It confused me when I worked on this in the 2006-2007 time frame, and my understanding has not improved with age.

I believe the bracket mounting bolt "B" is an M8 bolt that goes through the bracket and into the engine. 16 ft-lbs. of torque. Tough to get to. IIRC I used a torque adapter since the head of my torque wrench would not fit. I'm going off old memory, but I think I used a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of blue threadlocker on that one.

AFAIK the M8 bolt that connects the attached bracket to the alternator does NOT have a listed torque value that I've ever been able to find. However, I also used 16 ft-lbs. of torque since it is a steel nut welded to the alternator bracket. I used a decent amount of blue threadlocker on that one.

So far, it's held up for almost 17 years.

Okay, the below information confirms my torque values. I lifted this from a 2011-2012 Honda service manual:

Note that just like our 2nd Gen Odysseys, this 4th Gen Odyssey uses an M10 x 1.25 bolt of the right length for the bottom support of the alternator.

Also, like ours, it uses M8x1.25 bolts for both alternator-to-bracket and bracket-to-engine fastening. Both are spec'd at 16 ft-lbs.

Good Lord, two broken ones. That was the story of my life as well, causing me to tear out my meager hair.
