I traded a 2015 Jeep Wrangler for my Ody. I will never buy another vehicle with the Pentastar V6. Lots of brittle plastics in the engine bay, and the oil filter housing beneath the intake manifold, make for expensive repairs, for which the parts can be difficult to find even from the dealer network. I’ve driven at least a dozen Pacifica rentals, one just last month. Even when they are nearly new, those second-row seats can be a chore to fold into the floor. Many forum posts say they are good for about two years. It could be a good lease vehicle, but I wouldn’t want one out of warranty.
First thing anyone should do when buying a Crapastar is replace the plastic oil filter housing with the better Dorman aluminum setup. Infinitely better.

The real reason I bought a 2018 Honda ODY was for safety. NO KIA or Hyundai would ever come close. I do not believe a Pacifica could come close either. Toyota perhaps but at the time Sienna lagged behind in improvements. I really don't think I will be returning to a Honda after the ODY starts to become unreliable. The other reason I bought it, due to my job, being called back, (retired now) and so many friends said get a Honda... they will not leave you stranded. Now after the past years with recalls and people having so much problems with transmissions, I really do not think it's the best anymore. After the extended warranty is done, I might be moving on to another vehicle, been surfing a lot, but another3 years before I need to make a change. Will not by a Hybrid or a EV,to many battery problems (fires) and working out if screens will work to operate the vehicle. Perhaps a Sherman tank will do!
I too was minivan shopping in 2018. The Odyssey and Pacifica had equivalent crash test scores from NHTSA and IIHS. No meaningful differentiation between them. Both substantially outperformed the Sienna because it was built on a 15 year old platform design.

I chose the Pacifica and still have it at 6+ years and 70k miles. It has been to dealer 3 times for recalls, and spent less than one day out of service in 6 years. Repair cost at present is $0. One minor repair I performed myself. One set of tires, a battery, and scheduled servicing so far. It’s the first Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis product I’ve owned and can’t complain about the experience thus far. Not really sure I have a point here other than it’s possible to buy a Stellantis product and have a good ownership experience. Maybe there’s a reason why it outsells the Odyssey 2:1?.

Of course. There's Land Rover owners who haven't had major problems either, for the most part, somewhat, as well. ;)

Now, this is 2024 rankings, not 2018 rankings but, look towards the bottom. Chrysler is literally THE worst out of all the brands ranked. :D:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Now, does that mean the Pacifica specifically is bad? No, of course not, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every couple Pluto revolutions around the Sun. It's brand specific as a whole but this starts to give an idea of why people dislike Chrysler/Dodge/Stellantis products because as a whole, it's freaking awful, especially right now. :geek:

I'm still waiting for the confirmation of what tech they updated on the inside. And I'm grateful they got rid of the current Elite wheels which are not my style. We have a 2014 and had been holding out for the full redesign, but we've pretty much already decided we are taking a 2025 and then will likely swap it out for the 2nd or 3rd year of the fully redesigned one, in about 5 years (2-3 years for the redesign to come out, plus another year or two to work the kinks out.)

@Shadow5501
Do a advanced search at this ODY Forum, for accident. Those that showed what happened to their ODYs and what happened with the passengers made me happy with our choice at that time. Some accidents show how small the areas could become and totally surprised of the non-injury!

Its a minivan. You want them to spend millions updating the styling, I think its a waste of money. They need a whole new generation, and make it a hybrid that runs on magic beans or whatever the idiots in the white house are lying to their supporters about. And charge the AC with some poor performing refrigerant that emits a WW1 nerve gas when it catches fire.

Oh wait...

Check out my review of odyssey, sienna, Pacifica and carnival. My YouTube channel is Sonoma leather, thanks
Its great that you purchased your Odyssey and it is also great that you made a video review of the comparison. What you are bordering on is your "Web sales of Sonoma Leather" products. I would recommend you post direct link(s) to your content v/s posting your business channel name so that it does not appear that you are advertising your wares. If you want to advertise, please get with Vertical Scope and get on their approved vendor list.

I doubt you'll see a hybrid Odyssey anytime soon, Honda does not have a hybrid powertrain on any of their larger vehicles (Pilot/Passport/Odyssey/Ridgeline)
I agree and have echoed this for 3+ years.
But wish they did have one.

Toyota throws hybrid in everything now, and it’s beginning to show in their sales resurgence (albeit investors are officially getting frustrated with exec leadership, but that’s another topic)

None of these posts are helping with the 2025.
in summary, it’s a mailed-in light refresh to a van already way behind on interior tech and hybrid packaging.
But few people care, I guess.
The posts are fairly consistent with each other. It’s a fairly big update considering it’s not a redesign. Which to me shows Honda is committed to this gen for longer than one more year.

Yeah I have no problem with this refresh part II if they keep it for say 3 years then do a redesign. It would be great to have an electric option but I think a lot of companies are realizing they can't survive on electric alone.

At the end of the day this is a minivan which is function over form so it's not a hot category or a halo vehicle, so I don't blame Honda for mailing it in for a few more years and focusing more on the CR-V and Pilot.
