Hi Guys,

Ive tried the search button but could not find any concrete answers. I got a bi xenon hid set as a gift from my wife for christmas, (pretty neat)
So I really want to install them the legal way so I'm looking for a retrofit conversion set. I saw one on ebay but haven't seen any reviews for these.

99 04 Honda Odyssey Retrofit Xenon HID Chrome Projector Headlights Red Demon Eye | eBay

Its pretty cheap compared to doing all the work ourselves.

Please help me decide on this one. Either I do the retrofit or buy this one from ebay. .

if the kit you received as a gift kit is a pnp kit, that produce a lot of glare and it's a cop magnet, pnp kit give the illussion of being brighter but actually it's the oposite, they're very bright closer to the car but far ahead they're no brighter than halogens, and the glare blind oncoming traffic and rearview mirrors, if you want to upgrade your headlights the right way and know how to open a headlight with a heatgun you need to buy a MH1 projectors kit with xb35 4300k bulbs, that's the entry level QUALITY kit you can fit to your vehicle, i had it in my odyssey and now have it in my CRV and trust me this projectors perform equal or a little better than an acura TSX lights, any question PM me cause i don't check this site often, i don't know if i can mention other sites here but i can tell you where to look

Those appear to be Mini H1 projectors in that ebay kit. It's not an OEM style bulb base, but there is a benefit to Mini H1 over Mini D2S in that the H1 re-based bulb (HID capsule, to be technically correct) uses a slightly longer projector housing, and this makes a noticeable difference in how well it throws light down the road where you need it.

In my experience, the Mini H1 does a slightly better job. I installed the Mini D2S projectors from TRS, and will probably remove them to do a little tweaking like install a foreground limiter, chrome every flat surface facing the collector, and black out every flat surface facing the lens.

I think you can install a Mini H1 kit for less than what they're charging for that deal on ebay. I think it would be best to buy a pair of TYC 99-04 headlights on ebay for about $85 shipped, and use those for your project. They don't have a great halogen reflector, but that's okay because you're going to install projectors. That way, you can yank them and re-install the stock OEM headlights should you sell your Ody in the future.

Next, go to TRS and get their Mini H1 kit. I've installed the Mini D2S kit in my 2003 Ody, and the combination of an incorrectly made H4 adapter ring by TRS and the not-so-great reach of the Mini D2S projected light pattern compared to the Mini H1 have me convinced that the Mini H1 is a better projector. I can't recommend TRS's Mini D2S projector or kits with that projector until they fix those issues, especially the incorrectly machined adapter ring which forces the cutoff to be several degrees off level and badly canted up to the left.

I fixed the tilt, and after the foreground limiter install plus other small work, my D2S setup should be where I'd like it. Even in its purely "out of the box form", with only the cant fixed, it puts out more light than even really good bulbs like Osram Hyper or Philips X-Treme power.

Here's the 2nd Gen HID thread started by LXODY, page 5 being phatmitz's install.
