Have a 2021 Ody with 55k miles. Wifey was stranded at school pickup no start. Lots of error messages on the dash. Honda care got them jumped.

Went to Costco no H6 AGM batteries available. Went to Walmart lots of H6 AGM batteries available. Walmart battery had 4 year free replacement warranty with 760 CCA and 140 RC AGM H6 made in S Korea by JCI for $179.99. Everstart Platinum.

Went to Costco later their Interstate H6 AGM was made in China 760 CCA 120 RC for $169.99 3 year pro rated warranty.

I think the Walmart battery is superior due to country of origin is better, S Korea vs China, and the RC reserve capacity is better 140 vs 120 and the warranty is much superior. 4 year free replacement vs 3 year pro rated is definitely worth the extra $10 in price as is the better RC.

My current battery died in just less than 3 years so pro rated I would get like $15 back with Costco warranty vs a free battery replacement with the Walmart battery at $179.99. So yeah Walmart wins for that alone.

Just to note their were actually 2 different H6 AGM batteries at Walmart. Even though the employee said they were the same lol. One with RC 120 and one with RC 140. They had different manufacturer dates and the terminals were slightly different and the sticker placement was reversed on the top. I went for the 140 RC of course but they look very similar. So keep an eye out. Their batteries are similar but depending on the manufacturer the specs do vary slightly.

Replacement took an hour. Walmart includes free install with battery purchase which is a nice perk to but I imagine my install was done with more care. It does take some work due to the battery is under the intake and is inside of a sealed plastic box which is the first time I have seen that. You can pull the battery without removing the air cleaner and without removing the full battery box but it is tricky shimming the battery in and out. It’s not hard but Honda does make it unnecessarily difficult like other routine maintenance on their newer cars.

I feel like the new battery will be a nice upgrade from the low speced Honda OEM battery. 650 CCA vs 760 CCA should make everything work better and improved RC too.

2020 EX-L. Honda Certified, new to us March '22. 60k miles now on it, 6k we've put on it since we got it. Battery died days apart, randomly, back in September. Was dead in the garage. NOCO came in clutch for us! Batteries and Bulbs tested it for me, the CCA and voltage were both great. The guy helping me was stumped, being that the alternator was fine too. It was fine for awhile, and then it died again in November. Finally brought it to a dealership to test it, and they confirmed it tested fine. CCA, voltage, alternator all good. So we made an appt to do that one test that charges it, drains it, charges it again, drains it again, and measures the cells' storage capacity and health. Had to unfortunately cancel the appt, and the van had been fine since. Fast forward to today, I had an appt with a diff dealer to take care of some recalls on it, and when it was parked and off, the service writer went to start it and it didn't start hahaha. They had to jump it on the floor, and they added that to the service ticket. When he called me, he said they charged it up and drained it, and found that only after a couple starts it died again. So they're replacing the battery, and he agreed that the battery's cells were shot. Said 9/10 times a 3 year old Honda battery will be due to the cells storage capacity being deteriorated. $325 inc labor. Just happy to have some peace of mind now!

If.... you have been following the post on this ODY Forum, you would have known to replace your battery before 3 years of age. The factory battery is not good. It's to bad that you took it into a Honda dealer to have them troubleshoot and replaced their battery. Be aware that in the future I would recommend replacing your battery around 2.5 years of age. Other batteries will last longer. Mine was showing fatigue in less than 2.5 years, I replaced with a yellow Top Optima battery H6 and now have had it last longer than 2.5 years with no signs of problems.

I have not been following this post for long at all, and it's only been new to me for 7 months. I'll probably go that route next time around, and not get OE. But it literally died at the dealer, so I was going to get the battery done there, since it was most convienient. I wasn't gonna make things more complicated with the service manager (who was a good guy) and leave without the battery being done. I know you'd probably say that you'd have just left it, and just gone somewhere else to replace it, but I wasn't that day. To each their own.

I probably would have the same as you, if I was at the dealer. But as most things go at the dealer, they will try to sell you what they have (Cost more) and than possibly replace other things not needed or tell you that your muffler bearing is failing so it will need to be replaced. I worked at a few Dealers before, and they had always emphasized to find things wrong and write it up. I just refused to do that unless it was true like brakes going out or even turn signal lamps. I kept to keeping the owners safe, not unloading their wallets.

I am on 3rd battery now on my 2018 odyssey.
The 2nd battery was a DieHard lead acid battery from Advanced auto part.
It was dead after one year using.
I brought it to Honda to check and they said the battery is in good condition.
...........
What could I do for this "in good condition battery which does not work on my odyssey" ?
Now that I typed this, I see this is an older thread.

If you're getting clicking / buzzing and no crank, it could just be a loose ground connection from battery to ground or engine to ground. That would also explain why the dealership says the battery is OK.

(you need to tell us a few more of your 'dead battery' symptoms)

Finding a dealership that can properly diagnose anything is nearly impossible, no matter the brand. That's why I only take my Hondas to the dealership for things like RECALLS.

as an aside, I got blindsided in my 2019 Nissan Maxima Plat Reserve - we only drive it ~5000 miles/year - 5 years and replaced battery (AAA to my house).
Probably should have gone to Costco or Walmart but having it done instantly in garage was a win for me.
