I have a 2018 Odyssey. I’ve connected an iPhone that’s running iOS 14.x. Phone, audio, and internet tethering seem to be working. But, SMS messaging is not working. When I select SMS Messages on the navigation panel, I get,

“Unable to Access Messages. The connected phone does not appear to support this feature. Ensure that the phone is enabled to send beavers to the vehicle or connect a different phone.”

my previous phone was a Windows Phone. It v worked fine. How do I get messages on the iPhone to the Odyssey?

My wife and I absolutely hate the automatic swapping of words. My wife sent off a message to another gal in our church to say she would be making chocolate cupcakes for a church evening activity. The cell phone sent volcano cupcakes instead. Thank you T7 correction system. So now we reread every text before sending.

You can do it over bluetooth. You don't need to use Apple Car Play. I was able to make it work. On the iPhone go to:

Settings > Bluetooth > (find your car, mine was called "Handsfree") > click the circled "i" to the right > then activate "Show Notifications"

See pic attached. I am running Apple iOS 13.2. You may need to delete your phone and repeat the "add new device process". Also I think I had the USB cable connected when I did this (but had CarPlay deactivated). Bottom line is that it will work. Just play around with it until you get it. Good luck.
