Honda Transmission Fluid Checks

I recently stumbled on to a Honda dealer's website where they stated that to check the transmission fluid in your Honda, it must be up to temp and running.

This brings my question. Are there currently any Hondas on the road that deviate from the hot, off, 60 to 90 second window method?

I imagine the newer ones like the ZF9 have a different procedure.

Just for you, and if your Honda is level, check it cold before starting the engine, and then do it the recommended way.
Please post back at what you find.
Thanks, (and so easy and free to do)

PS: I think quite a few would be interested and maybe even try it themselves!!!!!!!!

I didn't check cold but I did do another experiment today.

The vehicle in question was my Fit. After finding that dealership web site, I had searched for 2007 honda fit transmission checking information and every result said to check while running.

I should mention that I already know full well the correct way to check the transmission fluid, and it's not while running. So I ran with it and checked it hot and while running. The fluid was in the hash marks.

Needless to say that when I checked it correctly it was about half a quart low.

I think the issue is that to the best of my knowledge, all Hondas are checked hot, off, 60-90 secs.

I have found so much incorrect information across the web that states to check these transmissions hot and on.

I'm wondering what started the incorrect information spamming.

People assuming it's the same procedure as other automatic transmission vehicles.

And that's what your Owner's Manual says. (haven't checked the latest 9&10 speed trans)

Makes me wonder where the dealer is getting that information from. Oh wait, dealer. No wonder I rarely trust them! o_O

Right, like "How do I drop the pan so I can change the transmission fluid?" :ROFLMAO:
