How do I cancel the paddle shifter?

I want to learn how to use the paddle shifter before I actually use it.

Say I'm in drive and then start going down hill on a winding road. I use the paddle shifter "-" and "+" to stay at the speed limit. I lose track of how many times I pressed the "-" and "+" paddles. Now the road levels out. I don't want to decelerate any more. How do I cancel the paddle shifter setting and get back to normal?

I can confirm this to be true. In the 'D' or normal driving mode, the transmission goes back to being in auto once you have gotten 'use' of the manual gear change.

I'd also like to know the answer to this. I mostly use the paddle shifters for engine braking down a steep hill, and would love to be able to turn it off once I get to the bottom. Instead it seems you have to wait 5 or 10 seconds or so for it to time out.

Hold the +paddle for 2 seconds to cancel sequential mode (whether in S or D mode). The full owners manual (not the small one in the glove compartment) has info

Holding the +paddle for 2 or even 5 seconds did not work for me. I'll try it again though, to confirm that I didn't do something wrong on my previous try. Thanks!
