So I was set on purchasing an HID kit for my 2014 EX-L Navi before things happened with it and I decided to trade it in for a new 2015 EX-L Navi. Well good thing I held off on the HID kit as these New XenonDepot H11 LED Headlight Bulbs came out. Link: LED Headlight Lights | Philips LED Headlight bulbsThese were super easy to install plug and play without having to mount ballast. Took less than 15mins to do. The cutoff on the OEM projector headlights look good. I know there are those who are super hardcore believers in getting a proper retrofit for projectors but I find that these are great. Ordered on a Sunday from XenonDepot took about a week arriving on the following Monday.

Sorry about the crappy cellphone pictures.

OEM Before:
After: Right OEM Halogens, Left H11 XenonDepot LED

After:

Back road shot, not completely dark yet but looks way better then before.

Cell phone camera in low light sucks. Lol

Is there a blind spot on the drivers side, or is that a camera issue?

Good eye. In this image, you kind of see the curve of the line as well

What is the lumen rating on these headlights?
Looks like 2500 for the H11 XD branded and 2400 for the Philips branded. It's confusing, because XD says that they use Philips diodes, but then they also sell Philips bulbs. They look pretty different.

Color temp too blue?

The product description says 6000 kelvin color temperature. Is this very blue? Standard oem HID temp is usually 4300 K. Digital photos are hard to discern true color because of the auto white balance generally applied, but it doesn't seem like these are too blue even at 6000?

Thanks for posting this. I've been and still am looking for a convenient and better lighting upgrade without HID conversion.

Nice report! Thank you so much. I am tempted to do the LED upgrade because the OEM halogens sucks but I am not 100% happy about the aftermarket HID beam pattern.

How does it illuminates the road ahead with ambient lights (street lights, etc)? Does it provide enough brightness around city driving (with other light sources around) instead of in complete darkness?

They work great with daily driving, that is one of the main reasons I went with them.

See this review from a 2014 Accord: H11 LED Headlight Review | 9005 LED kit Review

I wonder how the VLEDS LMZ output is. It's a little less than double ($250) what XD charges for their H11 LED Bulbs

LMZ H11 H8 H9 H16 45W 4500LM ULTRA OUTPUT LED HEADLIGHTS - H11 H8 H9 H16 - LMZ - LED Headlights
For the H11 a pair is only $135 USD (Plus the 15% off they have right now) you can't go wrong versus the $250 for the pair for LMZ. Plus you don't have to deal with a larger ballast to place. Never used the LMZ so can't say how good they are.

The only differences I see in terms of the specs is that XD uses 2 Philips Luxeon MZ bulbs where as VLEDs uses 4. Lifespan for XD is 50,000 hours vs. 30,000 hours for VLEDs. I don't know about the voltage thing, so whoever has knowledge can maybe chime in.

Thanks for posting. Count me in as one of the many who wanted a touring elite for the HID lights but couldn't justify the costs (yes I realize there is more to an elite than just HID's).

So with the 15% off it comes down to just over $100. Hell my silverstar ultra bulbs were like $40 and they hardly look any different from the OEM bulbs.

What is the warranty on these LED's? Does VLED's make a similiar version?

i've played with the led kits. same experience as the review (H11 LED Headlight Review | 9005 LED kit Review)
which is while it's a whiter output than stock halogens, it's minimally brighter in terms of throw down the road. if you want actual superior light output for driving and not just showing off in the driveway, xenon hids are the way to go. read the review and look at the picture at the bottom of the xenon -> you can see much further down the road compared to the halogen/led.

as much as i like the tech/idea of leds, the aftermarket ones just aren't there yet compared to xenons and don't have cost advantage either

Does the LED provides better / more light coverage in front of the van, not just distance?

I would be happy if the LED can give me more light coverage than stock but has the same throw. I just hate the stock bulb cause I can't see well enough when going on a freeway on ram ...

So if I use the 9005 LED bulb for the head beam / DLR, when it DLR mode, it still gets half bright like stock?

Also does it have noticeable PWM / flickering when in DLR mode (depends on if the half brightness in DLR is current modulated or PWM modulated)?

Some review also mentioned the high beam doesn't throw as far as the stock bulb, I wonder if that's the case for people that has converted the van's high beam to LED.

#28 ·
I have these 9005 for DRL/high and they are dual brightness, with very slight/negligible flicker in DRL mode. It looks very clean and couldn't be happier.
I would agree that they don't throw as far as stock and that the beam is not as "tight" as stock. The photos on post #25 above do a good job conveying exactly what I see.
Also, you'll get the DRL warning light if you don't use resistors.

The XenonDepot LED Headlight kits are designed to be brighter than your standard halogen bulb. They work great as a low beam, high beam and DRL upgrade as they provide more light.

As far as the high beam and DRL is concerned, you would need to install a Canbus Fix so that they run correctly in DRL mode. The Canbus simply goes between the LED bulb connection and your factory harness. Because the LED bulbs are brighter you do not lose any brightness when you turn the high beams on.

Hope that helps.

I went with JDM Astar LED kit from Amazon (i have prime) Pics here. #9
But i am not happy with the throw length and coverage. i feel the LED light intensity is not enough, Phillips crystal vision was better. The length of the flood is also less, so i see less distance ahead of me, Wonder if XD has a superior light than what i bought.
I am not considering 4500 LM H11 from VLED. But overall not at all happy with the result. I expected way better results.

Hi Steve,
Does the LED's on XD make a difference ? I noticed that XD uses phillips LED's , I installed JDM astar LED headlight kit from Amazon for both low beams and high beams , i am not happy with low beams the spread and length are not as much as halogen. From the above pics this doesn't seem like the issue with your kit.

These things are great. Haven't seen any issues since they have been installed. Have driven in terrible weather in the mountains and in really bad fog at night and they were fantastic. I don't know what I would have done if the OEM lights were still there. Haven't noticed if they do run hotter, wasn't aware there was an issue for heat. Where did you see this? But they haven't melted anything that I know of yet. LEDs don't run as hot as halogen lights but then again are you referring to the back of the bulb?

#42 ·
Cousin has great experience with Xenon led bulbs too, no melt or burn in almost a year now. Maybe unless if you got cheaper quality led lights with smaller wiring/harness that are prone to burn.
Thanks. Yeah I was referring to LED in general but with this design, I dont think I have to worry about heat issue... Thanks for the feedback. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and they are brighter than stock. Although compared to OSRAM Night Breakers, they are a little weaker but I decided to still keep them on just because it does its job.

Thing is with these compared to other LED bulb on the market when I was buying was the metal mesh that is fanned out to ensure proper cooling. Others out there look so much bulkier and doesn't look like they dissipate heat as well as these do. Then again it is hard to tell how hot they get since I haven't actually measured or touched them when they have been on for a long time.

This kit seems to be brighter with warranty, any people use these bulbs?:

Just had my Sylvania zXe bulbs burn out at just under 2 years (50,000km) so I've been looking at upgrading since I'm back to original. Looking through the reviews of these ones, overall positive but noticed one had a bulb burn out after a year. Really don't want to go through another time when starting up 2 hours from home and noticing my headlights are out. Made me thankful I kept the original bulbs in the van. Wouldn't be able to to such a quick swap with these ones if they aren't going to last.
