Hello again, how do I jump start my a/c compressor so I can add freon.? Is there a certain temp it won't work ?
Worked like a charm all last summer, no problems. It was about 50 degrees when I last tried to turn it on. No clicking from the clutch. Thanks

That's not how you get it to accept refrigerant. If there is not enough refrigerant to satisfy the LPCO, you likely have a large leak that should be fixed.

The purpose of the LPCO is to make the answer "No".

You really need to acquire more knowledge of MVAC systems and refrigerant behavior before proceeding, to avoid injury to yourself and the van.

In other words, the proper way to add the correct amount of refrigerant is to evacuate the system and then add the correct amount by weight. And while on the 1st step, see if it holds vacuum. The old shade tree mechanic way of adding freon until the manifold gages show the right pressure doesn't cut it anymore. You gotta charge it by weight, not pressure.

I don't know, seems to be the norm these days...

Actually it will but you sometimes have to turn the can upside down for a bit to put liquid refrigerant into the system so that the pressure will build up enough to get the compressor engaged.
Be careful and read up on how to do that SAFELY!!

PS: There is a way to jumper the relay to get the compressor going, but I would sure read up on the pros and cons and possibly damage that may happen when doing that.

plug it into my vans compressor and add the 12 volts
Yes, that will bypass all the pressure switches and directly energize the AC compressor clutch.

I hope your can is without sealant which can really mess up your system.

After you start putting the first can in upside down, the compressor will turn on by itself if you only very very low on freon. This is a safety
Feature. When it’s very cold outside the compressor will not turn on because the oil is to cold to lubricate the compressor.
please study some videos about charging a/c systems. If your system is empty you have a leak. If you still want to proceed don’t put more in then the system capacity on the label under the hood
