Hello,

I searched and couldn't find related posts.

I was wondering if any non-Touring owners here has installed the parking sensors in their +11 Ody.
My biggest concern is with the rear bumper removal. Does anyone have a DIY on the installation?
Planning on doing the installation myself.

Thanks in advance.

I plan to do mine soon with aftermarket units, the parts just arrived past week.
And will install them for front & rear units. There a pdf file from Collegehillshonda.com
for OEM Backup Sensors & they sell them, try that.

We had the dealer do ours - it looks just like the touring - only major beef is that the button to defeat it is in the back; would prefer to be able to dashboard control it but not that big of a deal. It works just fine.

If you have to pick from above, I would pick #3 Metra.
I did tried two units from Amazon

Amazon.com: nVISION 60100VA Back Up Sensor System: Automotive and

Amazon.com: Peak PKC0RE Wireless Backup Parking Sensor System: Automotive both didn't work too well, both returned.

Now picked two aftermaket units, I wanted two independent unit with their own LED display and don't have run too many wires to the back or front.
Now is in painting & testing stages.......ensure all sensors are accurate & no DOA parts before getting project started.

Here few pictures for now.

The Left is for Rear, the display will under mount next the trunk light , The Right is for the front, and will mount front of Center speaker grill.

Taped down from moving.

Here spray with Plastic Primer.

Another view.....close-up "after two thin layers."

Will do last spray paint in 24-48hrs after Primer has cured.

Thanks for all the responses!

Thanks BigBoat for the links! That's really helpful.

Nomorenow, do you know if painting the sensors would impact their functionality?
I believe with most aftermarket kits, you need to tap in the back-up light for power. How and where do you plan to tap? Since the lights are on the tailgate.

Will it impact their functionality? By reading other forums past months (Ex: gmfullsize.com , uk-mkivs.net , mercedesclub.org.uk & few more websites)
before making the purchase, 85% forum members didn't have issues after painted, They also mention do thin coating for best results.
That's what doing thin coats.

Now the sensors are painted, will do full exterior mount testing next few days, to see any changes before & after on detections.

About the wiring, I have few plans in my mind, once panels are removed then I decide which way I'm going with.
All I know for now is I wanted add ON OFF switch somewhere down the wire.

We have a 2012 EX-L. I couldn't figure out why our backup sensors stopped making noise...

After reading this thread and looking at the PDFs of the factory install, I realized I hit the button that turns them off when I put a small umbrella into the little cargo area on the drivers side rear panel in the trunk area.

Thanks for all the info in this thread. I would have never thought to look there for a parking sensor kill switch LoL.
