Random loss and gain in brake/pedal pressure, PLZ help! 1995

Hey guys, was wondering if someone could help me figure out what is going on with my parents 1995 Honda Odyssey. For a while the brakes have been doing some weird stuff. Here are the specifics on the car and the brake pedal symptoms I have experienced. For a while now, I have realized when I come to a full stop at a traffic light with my foot on the brake and the car is completely motionless... after a few seconds sometimes the car will start inching forward and I will have to press down even further on the brake to get it to stop again. So basically, it seems that the brake pedal and the brakes will lose some of their pressure after the pedal is held down for a bit. Now, after driving it the other day, for the first time I noticed that while driving at various speeds the brake pedal pressure will vary. Sometimes it is responsive and I don't have to press down that hard to get the brakes to kick in, and other times it is not responsive and I have to press the brake pedal very far to the floor to get brake pressure. I need to take care of this soon since it's pretty dangerous for the driver to not know how much pressure he has to apply to the brakes while driving since it can randomly change. Anyone have any ideas of what would cause intermittent brake pedal pressure and brake engagement? Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. I will check the brake fluid in the reservoir, bleed the brakes, and then check for leaks. If those all check out, then I will probably need a new brake master cylinder as you guys suggested. Thanks again, this is my first time messing with brake fluid so didn't really know what steps I would need to take. If anyone knows off hand what order I should bleed the brakes (what wheel should I do 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th), please let me know.

Had the same problem

Had the same problem. When stopped at a light...the car would initially come to a complete stop and then after a few seconds would start to creep forward.

Took it too the dealership and told them it was the Master Brake Cylinder failing and needed to be replace.

The dealership disagreed and installed a new braking system and also bleed the braking fluid. Cost me $1200 and they gave me back the car. Took the car around the block and still had the problem

Took it back read them the riot act and didn't get a penny of my money back.

I had to pay for a new Master Brake Cylinder and they didn't charge for its install.

Problem solved.
