I searched and could not find any complain about it, but I find the subwoofer on my 15 EX-L is extremely weak.

I know I cannot ask too much from un-upgraded audio system from Honda, but I have a 09 Accord with the same 270W system with a subwoofer, I am expecting similar or very close performance. But subwoofer to me is like non-exist.

I adjust the bass from -6 to +6 and my family can easily tell the change. But when I change the subwoofer, there is NO change at all. I went to the dealer, and they said factory subwoofer is REAK, they've got complains about that but Honda said that is what supposed to be.

I went to the van to test with the dealer guy, well, I turn bass and trebble down to lowest, and played a bass heavy rap, when I put my hand on the subwoofer, I can barely feel the vibration and it is like activated by other speakers. Then I put my ear next to it, and I can tell there is some terrible "bass" from there, but, only if I put my ear a few inches away, I can barely tell there is some sound from it.

Basically it is much worse than that from Accord EX-L which is the same 270W audio system.

I wonder if other owners has the same experience. I am not a bass lover, it just sounds much worse than comparable vehicle from Honda...

LOL, exactly what I thought.

actually, I thought about upgrading the sliding door speakers for the longest time. But I don't hear any complain from my wife and kids about the audio being bad in the back, and I am always in the front driving, I felt like I would be fixing a problem that doesn't exists if I upgrade the audio.

On the top of that, my family has been working really hard to destroy the van, inside and out, as much as possible and as quickly as possible. I felt like I would just let the audio go, live with it, and use the money and time to do something else. :D

I loved the sound system in my recently donated (after 300K miles--well, done, Ody!) 2006 Odyssey . For a factory system it was above average. Like all newer audio systems, it was (to my audio engineer's ears) over hyped in high and low ends, but a reasonably close to "flat" frequency response was attainable by dialing bass down -3 and treble down, oh...-1 or 2. Cut to...

...our recently purchased used 2016 Honda Odyssey Elite (10 years newer, 100k fewer). FIRST THING I noticed (yep--it's important to me and my work) was a huge chunk of mid to low end frequencies missing from the speaker response. Sounds like (I should meter it with a phone app, now that I think of it) everything from roughly 250--perhaps lower-- to 750 Hz More than what I'd suppose a subwoofer would be responsible for delivering. But...The subwoofer adjustment makes no discernible difference.

I'm calling dealer in the morning to ask after it. According to these posts, it looks like I'm not alone in assessing this generation of audio systems is somewhat subpar. Then again, maybe just a few bad apples. Harrumph.

I actually think the 650W system in my 2015 Elite sounds pretty good. I remember there was a huge difference when I tested both the Elite and EX-L's audio when I was shopping around.

Now if you really want to hear a bad audio system, my 2015 Ford Explorer XLT, which I paid over $40K for, is horrible.
Sirius XM is a joke, sounds like AM radio. The only way for me to get the best sound out of it is to play iTunes through my USB cord.
